EU REGULATION NO 1107/2006 CONCERNING THE RIGHTS OF DISABLED PERSONS AND PERSONS WITH REDUCED MOBILITY WHEN TRAVELLING BY AIR
In countries belonging to the European Union, beginning on 26 July 2008 airport services for the disabled and people with reduced mobility are provided under the responsibility of the Operating Company.
To ensure the best possible service, you are advised to inform the airline when booking at least 48 hours prior to your expected departure. The airline will notify the Operating Company, at least 36 hours in advance, of the request for special assistance.
The service is organized and provided in compliance with the EC Regulation No 1107/2006. The process also falls within the perimeter of SEA ISO 9001 certification (issued by the TÜV Italia certification organization); which guarantees the constant monitoring of service levels through its Quality Management System. Performance assessments are aimed at identifying ways to continuously improve our response to the specific requirements of ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority) and the implicit expectations of airport users.
Reduced mobility passengers will find assisted access amenities in all airport areas. To this end, in 2010, SEA obtained major recognition from the certification body Dasa-Rägister SpA for the compliance of Milan's airports (Linate, Malpensa 1 and 2) with the D-1:2 equal opportunities standard which sets out the requisites a site must satisfy to be used by people with motor disabilities. (Certificate IA-0510-01).
For blind and visually impaired passengers, Braille keyboards have been installed in telephones and some elevators as well as preferential lanes using the LOGES system (yellow rubber strips with raised symbols to indicate direction, barriers and dangers), in collaboration with Cooperativa Sociale Servizi Integrati.
